Downland are pleased to announce that our butchery classes will start shortly in our new butchery at Melksham.
Under the instruction of a skilled butcher you will be taught some of the many skills that will turn meat into an interesting and different centrepiece for a meal.
Our first session will last three hours, including a break for questions, hot drinks and to sample Downland Products. We aim to keep the time mostly “hands on” rather than it being just a classroom session. We will provide everything you need like aprons, gloves, knives etc. so you just have to turn up. It will start about 6.30pm on a weekday so you can put into practice your new knowledge over the weekend and surprise your family or guests.
Our first course will include
- Knife skills
- What to look for when buying meat
- Recognising cuts of meat
- Filetting and deboning to get to know how to use a knife correctly
At the end of the session you can have your filleted produce to cook at home
The first class will cost £70 per head and is limited to a maximum of 6 people so everyone can have personal tuition. For further information and to book call 01225 945011
Following on from this course courses we will hold further sessions to include sausage making, preparing ribs and preparing other meat for cooking especially for barbeques and summertime dining. Later we will concentrate on courses preparing meat for fine dining meals without breaking the bank. You will get a discount for future courses if booked at the end of your first session.
